Hueytown First Methodist Church

Scouting

The mission of the United Methodist Church is to reach out to those within the community, receive them as they are, relate them to God, nurture and equip them, and send them back into the community in order to make the community a more loving and just place in which to live. Hueytown First regards all its members, whatever their ages, as important and deserving of the church's concern. This means that children and teenagers should be nurtured and equipped along with all other members of the congregation.

Hueytown First has a rich history of sponsorship and support of the Boy Scouts of America because we have found Scouting to be a successful way to reach and minister to community youth and families.

Cub Scouts (1-5th Grades): Cub scouting is a family oriented activity which promotes the development of positive moral values. Cub Scouts promise to do their duty to God and Country and to help other people at all times. They also camp, fish, hike, race pinewood derby cars and lots more! The packs are divided into smaller groups called "Dens." Each Den meets 3 times a month. Our dens come together the 4th Tuesday of every month for a Pack Meeting.

Boy Scouts (6-12th Grades): If you want to try high-adventure activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, camping, swimming, canoeing, and sailing, come join us! Scouts do these things and much more year-round. Scouting has a reputation for helping youth develop self-reliance, strong character, respect for others, good citizenship skills, and physical and mental fitness. For over a century, our programs have instilled in young men the values and knowledge that they need to become leaders in their communities and in their countries.
